what is written in blood?
Written In Blood is a narrative-game documentation student-project I worked on during my time at Vancouver Film School. The goal for the project was to make a narrative design document for an action-adventure game.
Written in Blood is about an outcasted alchemist who delves into blood magic to save his homeland from a tyrannical force. However, using this forbidden magic has unexpected effects and leads him to meeting an oppressive eldritch deity.
the project spans over 40 pages, outlining plot points seperated into 12 missions with each one detailing player objectives, gameplay elements, and narrative. additionally there is one written cutscene with a dialogue script.

fun facts!
the Yeile race and their power source was inspired by the elves from God of War (2018) with their large light-beam and also by the elves in Lord of the Rings for their ornate architecture.
we were very inspired by bloodborne and other cosmic horror type media for this project and our original theme that remained throughout was "a character seeking knowledge and power from a god, gaining that power, but paying a large price for it."
